Maharana Udai Singh built this dam on Berach River, to ensure an adequate supply of water in his kingdom. The water of this lake is also used in the zinc smelter close to Debari. With the exception of lean years, the lake usually has plenty of water.
Lake Pichola is a freshwater artificial lake near to Uday Sagar Lake, which was recently developed as one of the adjoining lakes and it was basically developed to meet the water requirements of the area.
