The Monsoon Palace is also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace, named after Maharana Sajjan Singh, who constructed Sajjangarh Fort in 1884. It is a glorious residential palace located on a hilltop of Udaipur City. It offers a panoramic view of the city's lakes, mountains, palaces and spectacular panoramic views of Udaipur.
This palace was built basically to watch the monsoon clouds, that is the reason why it is popularly known as Monsoon Palace. The Monsoon Palace also provides a beautiful view of the sunset. Just outside Udaipur, the Palace is illuminated in the evenings, giving a glow of golden orange, high in the Aravalli Hills.
... The royal family also used this palace as a hunting lodge. The Monsoon Palace in Udaipur has been built in the Rajput architectural style, with white marble which has been labored in with turrets, towers, and pillars that depict beautiful motifs of leaves and flowers. This majestic monsoon palace is truly a sight to behold especially when it is illuminated in the evenings. The palace is surrounded by Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary which is populated by several exotic creatures and birds. One can enjoy a safari ride into the sanctuary and even trek their way to having some adventure to reach the reserve.
