Maharani Temple is situated in the middle of Gulmarg. The Temple was built by Mohini Bai Sisodhi, the wife of Maharaja Hari Singh in 1915. This Temple was once a royal temple of Dogra dynasty of erstwhile princely state Jammu and Kashmir. The Maharani Temple in Gulmarg is an example of religions intertwined with a Muslim priest performing rituals in the temple.

The Maharani Temple remains open every day from 6 am to 9 pm and aarti is performed twice a day. The most interesting fact about this temple is that it can be seen from all corners of the town. The Maharani Temple is also known as Mohineshwar Shivalaya.
The Maharani Temple reflects the Hindu architecture and is well maintained by the managing committee, Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust. The temple is been looked after by a Muslim man who has gained the knowledge of both Bhagwat Gita and the Quran. The devotees can visit the temple throughout the year, yet the best time to catch a glimpse of the temple is during Maha Shivratri. Certain restrictions are imposed on the visitors and they are not allowed with weapons, cameras, leather items or alcohol within the premises of the temple.
