Kaylana Lake is a man-made lake built by Pratap Singh in 1872, it is a huge lake that is spread over a vast range of 84 square kilometers and has a range of depth between 30-50 feet depending upon the level of water. The Kalyana Lake is situated 8 km west of Jodhpur. The area around this lake was once full of wild bears, owing to this the area once served as a secured hunting place for the royal members it was also known as Pratap Sagar. Currently, a variety of bird species live in these gardens. This lake is a treat for Birdwatching enthusiasts as sedge of Siberian Cranes stopover the lake in the winter season. Kaylana lakes act as the sole source of consumption of water to the city and neighboring areas.
